Auguring the Pentecost
Let us remember all the positive metaphoric images proffered for us to animate:
Pentecost is when the Holy Spirit (aka Holy Trickster) descends as a fiery dove, on top of the heads of all the apostles –
granting them the capacity to speak and understand all language.
Let’s extend that beyond human languages, to include that language of plants and animals, and rocks, and tardy grades…on and on…
Syncretism is a sacrament:
Twas a great cross-over (remember “metaphor” means to carry across:
“literally “a carrying over,” from metapherein “transfer, carry over; change, alter; to use a word in a strange sense,”
from meta- “over, across” + pherein “to carry, bear.””)
Metaphor into Paganism, and the Grail Legend, a guiding mythos at the heart of Western and Middle Eastern culture.
The Holy Spirit and the Holy Grail have long been associated, way back into ancient Persia..
Fire in the Water was also an image for the Grail, as well as being the image of “Revolution” in the I Ching.
(As always , we are tracking everything back to its originating liberating impulse,
pre-hood-winking and servitudinous bamboozlement, and offering ourselves to that spark….)
Tis on Pentecost Sunday, that the White Stag leapt into the center of King Arthur’s court,
occasioning Arthur to say, “Nature has sent an emissary that we humans mend our manners…
And each must go forth, to have a conversation with an emissary from Nature, and report back.”
“Otherwise no supper.”
Tonight we honor language, the Holy Spirit-Grail, The Ace of Cups, Returning to Source –
before we set forth on our Caravan of Dreams…to restore Harmony to the world.
Mercury is retrograde at one of “the four gates of power” degree, making available conversation with emissaries from Nature,
that we may form respectful treaties of collaboration for Reciprocal Blessing…
and the Moon convenes us as “pilgrims gather rounds a campfire…shared pursuits that draw people together.
Journeying towards a common goal. Seeing that each person has a piece of the whole.” Who brought what to this party?
Moon quintiles Saturn – so let’s define desirable leadership (to cultivate that in ourselves, and thus in world.)
And may human social world be in accord with nature’s guiding patterns.
