And yet, what settles us down into calm, is deep honoring….
The New York Times has created a great honoring… a life summed up in sentence
“Back-yard birds fed from her hand.”
“freed from life in prison, right before his death…”
From life sentence to life in a sentence.
A great Ouiji Board of intimacy, just to scroll, and feel that poignancy is kinship…
In the spirit of Amergin the great Celtic Bard, honoring Neptune:
“I have been the guest of 100 kings,
the glint of light on a wave, a boar in his boldness.”
As we read, these life sentences, we feel resonant kinship,
so many life flames, unique stories, extinguished, in such a short time…
And how might we each sum up our lives, thus far, in a sentence? or memento mori, how would we choose to be remembered in a sentence?
