Resurrection Possum!
Summer Solstice-Full Moon-
The Wedding of All That’s Been Falsely Estranged
The Winter’s Tale into The Summer’s Tale,
the Opossum’s Tail
Amazing possum encounter, will regale
Veils are thinning between worlds…animals cavorting in dreams and waking life, and fewer distinctions betwixt the two, as we approach Mid-Summer Night’s Dream, the Solstice (this Friday) the Full Moon (this Saturday.) Where, o where would we like to return to life?
Cunning possum,
Trickster changeling,
So alive, yet seeming dead,
Teach me wise old possum magic
That reacts from instinct, not from head.
Show me the way to slip past danger.
Fill me with earthy wisdom great,
That I might be secure and happy
Living life and trusting fate.(Mathew James)
“Opossums have a remarkably robust immune system, and show partial or total immunity to the venom of rattlesnakes, cottonmouths, and other pit vipers.Opossums are about eight times less likely to carry rabies than wild dogs.”
Possums have the most teeth (50) of any mammal – dental medicine available.
“An actor who is versatile in the art of deception and a masterial non-confrontational problem solving. Possum has teeth and claws but it rarely uses them preferring to use a cunning strategy for getting out of distasteful or dangerous situations. (“Always have a back-up plan”) The possum employs a strategic plan of refusing to argue or fight and uses appearances to its advantage and has the ability to project a certain appearance for its own benefit. (“When all else fails; play dead” )”

“Opossum” is the only marsupial in the Northern hemisphere (so we are kinning with our Australian Trickster allies.) The name is derived from the Virginia Algonquin, meaning “white beast/animal.”
We expand our repertoire of responses, by whatever, whomever, we encounter (always, but especially now.)
Playing dead – thanatosis – camouflage, mimicry:
what did we think was dead, but is not?
The ingenious capacity to step outside of time, trance, mimicry –
Neptunian shape-shifting
Elegba-Mercury passes the energetic baton to Yemaya-Moon as the season shifts. (And remember, as ancestral ally-colleague Jayje Jacobs quipped: “A Cancer’s just a Scorpio in a house-coat.”)
Life can feign death to protect itself, the myriad marvels of Nature proffered to us now.
The Sun entering Cancer glides right into all of the guiding meta-story patterns of now, opposing Pluto (Capt. Death), squaring Uranus (Capt. Ingenuity), grand trining Saturn (Time-Guy/Gaia) and Neptune (Trance Champ)…as we all cultivate the capacity to navigate the Dark Water between worlds.
p.s. Engaging the team’s culture of Mutual Aid and Reciprocal Blessings: an ally of great heart and spiritual wisdom, astrologer, drummer, and more! Tuere Cheka, has just been released from 7 years of imprisonment for growing Marijuana, and needs a part-time job, for the next step towards freedom. If anyone in the Washington DC area can proffer such (I can give great references) – let me know.
Soon would be grand. (T’would be great for him to have a pass to contribute to this Saturday’s Summer Solstice event in DC.) (Let’s conjure his release.)

I wish I had job connections in the DC area to offer (no such luck) — but many well-wishes to Tuere Cheka on adventures, release, and northern-summer sun!
