(I am reading, and will report on, a splendid little book, “Stop Me If You’ve Heard This – a History and Philosophy of Jokes,” by Jim Holt.Nat Shmulowitz, collector of humorous ephemera, gave his vast collection to the San Francisco public library: Schmulowitz Collection of Wit and Humor, is free to the public and possibly the largest collection in the world. He called jokes “the small change of history.” They have “detected and exposed the imposter and have saved man from the oppression of false leaders.”
Jupiter loves stories, Cancer loves history…
So we shall also delve into the “Pancha Tantra,” which is the oldest known frame story collection in the world of wit and guiding wisdom…
