In the midst of tragic cruelty-
the veils between worlds are thin
at this long Halloween season,
that extends through this week
to the day after the US election,
which is True Halloween
(New Moon at 15+ Scorpio Nov 7th
at 11:02 am edt), exact mid-season,
one of the four gates of Power.

This election takes place
at the dark of the Moon
– towards which we are now diving…
Traditionally this is the time
for wise Citizen Tricksters to gather –
to direct the course of culture,
with swooshy well-wishing…
and metaphorically creative
conjuring of the desirable…
(in order to pre-empt the
up-to-no-good dark shenanigans
– that are also available…
all is under cover of darkness,
so let’s animate the Dark as Desirable)
All ritual is literalized metaphor…

“am helping to plan a Samhain ritual for next weekend, and
I am tasked with putting together some guidelines for doing political magic in support of the dark of the Moon midterm elections. I want to put together things Caroline has been sharing with us (with proper attribution!) and thought perhaps folks here could help make sure I have them right.
Here’s what I can remember. I’ll call it Guidelines for Political Magic and it will be printed out for each participant.
- Only energetically send to others things of which you would be the happy recipient.
- (not sure how to phrase this one) Words, actions, and systems (e.g. tyranny) may be put into Pluto’s cauldron, but NOT individuals.
- We want to not lose kinship with even the guiltiest among us.
We are invoking activist women from history as well as our personal beloved dead. I got the idea to do this from you, too, Caroline, so maybe attribution needs to be made for that also?
Anything else? Any suggestions for phrasing? I’m looking forward to sharing this wisdom with my women’s circle.

Guidelines for Political-Cultural Magic
1. We are encouraged to spiral forth fierce blessings,
of which we would be the happy recipient…
For instance: “May anything not -yet- dedicated
to collective well-being – be revealed, rendered harmless,
and in the fullness of time, be an occasion for mirth…”
For instance: “May so and so’s kidneys work so well –
as to flush all toxins out of their system and leave them
in a pool of befuddled innocence…”
2. Ally etiquette guides us to toss tyranny, colonialism,
and corruption etc in their many guises into Pluto’s cauldron,
(but not proper names of individuals)
and ladle out the desirable…
tossing: corruption into the cauldron,
ladling out: dedication to collective well-being
tossing: having out-sourced our leadersip (Saturn)
to sociopathic dementors
ladling out: wise governanace derived from wolves
(or Nature … or fill in the blank)
tossing in: passivity, futility, etc
ladling out: re-assuming responsibility-opportunity
for dreaming desirable governance into being
with wise leadership qualities,
“Confidence and Kindness, and co-operation”
(thank you psilocybe mushrooms – positive gifts
from the Underworld)
