Out-Foxing Ourselves
diving to the Dark of the Moon
on great satirist Tom Lehrer’s birthday…
his natal Sun square Pluto =
sardonic:
“apparently but not really proceeding from gaiety,” 1630s,
from French sardonique (16c.), from Latin sardonius
(but as if from Latin *sardonicus) “of bitter or scornful (laughter),”
altered from Homeric sardanios (of uncertain origin) by influence
of Sardonios “Sardinian,” because the Greeks believed that eating a
certain plant they called sardonion (literally “plant from Sardinia” )
caused facial convulsions resembling those of sardonic laughter,
usually followed by death. [Online Etymology Dictionary]
“Life is like a sewer…
what you get out of it
depends on what you put into it.”
Our 1st musical offering of the night
honors Tom Lehrer’s birthday,
and the 1st day of John Bolton’s (may it be way short)
1st day on the job as Nightmare NSA guy…
But take heart – The New Moon on April 15th
at 26+ Aries is: “Through Imagination,
a Lost Opportunity is Regained,”
inviting us all to think of a personal,
and a collective “lost opportunity,”
that we would like regained – re-animated..
Please do send, post nominees…
The following Sunday is Earth Day
(there’s some eager opportunities
hopping up and down.)
And the week after on April 22nd
is the Buddha’s Full Moon (the night
the Buddha was born, and the day he achieved
enlightenment with his back pressed against
the Bodhi Tree. Good time to prepare from now
till then, by spending time with our backs pressed
against a tree, even for a minute… could grant us
access to the Faery Realm – where there is
an abundance of time…)
The Full Moon’s image, 9+ Scorpio,
America’s secret soul, is “a fellowship super
reunites old comrades…” – what America
is meant to be… let’s re-gain that opportunity…
Jupiter is Scorpio retrograde,
seconds that possibility – diving deeply,
inwardly and back-wards in time…
(and perhaps, we shall take a
micro-tour of crypto-currency….)
and would also love for us to wish freedom
for those imprisoned, literally or figuratively…
again, please feel encouraged to nominate…
and not to let realism inhibit our well-wishing…
“Against all odds,” is game…
Leonard Peltier… my friend Jarvis Masters…
We are, after all, Convening the Renaissance
Council of Liberating Trickster,
with our out-foxing Fox…
to re-write old tragedies
into Redemptive Comedies….

In the currency of micro-macro, as above-ness so below-ness, and separation-unity, perhaps it is helpful to see ‘boundaries and differences’ as simply unique diferentiations, and ‘drops in the bucket’ of the greater connected WHOLE….and invite all drops to jump in!
Ode to Dirt
Dear dirt, I am sorry I slighted you,
I thought that you were only the background
for the leading characters—the plants
and animals and human animals.
It’s as if I had loved only the stars
and not the sky which gave them space
in which to shine. Subtle, various,
sensitive, you are the skin of our terrain,
you’re our democracy. When I understood
I had never honored you as a living
equal, I was ashamed of myself,
as if I had not recognized
a character who looked so different from me,
but now I can see us all, made of the
same basic materials—
cousins of that first exploding from nothing—
in our intricate equation together. O dirt,
help us find ways to serve your life,
you who have brought us forth, and fed us,
and who at the end will take us in
and rotate with us, and wobble, and orbit.
