This seems apropos, both to the moment, and to the search for an alternative to “warrior:”
Remember that “Fight or Flight” is an incomplete picture of the human/animal fear/stress response. There’s also “Tend and Befriend.” As I’ve heard it told, the original studies that came up with ‘fight or flight’ were all with male subjects. When the same studies were repeated years later with women included, the results were different.
When you (I), (we), listen to some of the Art of Peace lines, you can see the tend and befriend strategies in there. And it’s what Scherezade does. Why this feels like a tipping point, a Pratchett fulcrum, is probably because it calls forth tend and befriend – gives the third alternative a huge opening to change the dynamic.
