So here be a pithy article, for rumination…
to which a colleague responded:
“Twas great and provocative. I’m reminded of what one of my advisors, Bayo Akomalafe, says about trauma, (groping paraphrase here), that it’s an atmospheric, a territory, that captures individual bodies in order to express its agency….
I ponder that the trauma of “my trauma” is precisely the “my,” that reinforcement of the enclosure, the isolated identity, the loss of magical participation, the fractured death fantasy identity virus replicating itself … “my trauma” is so very unoriginal.
Although bodies and hearts do need to heal from the trauma that’s coopted: participatory belonging, animistic connection, incantatory story weaving of creative possibility, kind collaboration, your forte!”
