When I think of her, I do not feel so much that I am animating the statue, but that the statue is the portrayal of a living spirit of our country. By contemplating/honoring her, I am supporting her, nurturing her, bolstering her and welcoming the cooperation that she has the capacity for. I find working with her has been very solid, real, working with the great strength and beauty of our place in this world.

This American Life had this 7 minute piece on the Orca Uprising. I love this militant whale idea too, but this piece suggests that this reading of the orcas’ activities actually poses a danger to orcas and very possibly does not represent what is really happening in these events. BUT the scenario that is more likely is pretty cool too.

This is a link to Jill Sobule singing her song, Heroes. I know that this song is a little dyspeptic for the tenor of our get togethers, and this version is a little rough. I’m sharing this one because I like seeing her perform. I think it warms the song up a little. I first heard this, I’m guessing over 10 years ago. At first I just found it clever and funny, but I find it initiated an inner inquiry about the pitfalls of anointing a person to be a hero. Even though she is listing the shortcomings of some popular heroes, I always feel that it is our need for heroes that is really being highlighted here. Sorry if it feels a little grumpy, but FYI.

Greetings, Council!
Here be my offering for interpretation/cahooting for the session #1 assignment to record dreams… with a twist 🙂
My only grandchild/son age 13 was staying with me when we began this Dream journey. That night, I asked my non-physicals to help me REMEMBER my dream, since I rarely/ever do. The next morning I had nothing, HOWEVER, my grandson said, GrammaSue, you won’t believe the dream I had last night! So here it is and I’d love to hear what you interpret!
[GS=me, Susan aka GrammaSue, I=my grandson, Indy dogs= 2 my granddogs, cat=my remaining pet]
“GS opened the front door and 3 bears were standing there and then I said “GS I’ll grab the dogs you grab the cat let’s run downstairs[basement] and hide! We went down and hid in the bathroom and then a couple hours later we went upstairs and the bears were gone and the whole house was shiny clean. So we looked around the house and then we looked out a window and we didn’t see anything. So we went outside and we saw a REALLY really big boar around the corner of the house. And then the 3 bears came out of nowhere, got on the boar and road off into the sunset.”
PS – I’ve had no dream recall …. yet 🙂

I appreciate having someone clearly describe something that I can just find puzzling and maddening–like the de-evolution I have seen in our political discourse during my lifetime. It can also show where the fulcrum lies–where we can apply a little pressure and push.
Also, goodbye to an ally. I got to study Tarot with Rachel Pollock and Mary Greer twice. Rachel’s book, Seventy-eight Degrees of Wisdom, has been a companion and a touchstone for decades. A friend just told me she died this past April. Gratitude all around–shining light on her contribution: Thank you, Rachel. Consider my gratitude ongoing.
