Tis Dark o Moon, before Saturday’s eclipse (on my birthday!)
was always understood as a spooky time, when people would gather back-stage to guide culture…
This eclipse path goes right through Waco…
(for a millisecond, I was tempted to go there, or Bears Ears Utah, undoubtedly more fun company.)
But there were no path unfurling auguries.. So I will most likely stay home on my birthday, and aspire to finish my 2022 taxes. And maybe eat mushrooms, and consider all these guiding patterns…

(We live on the only known planet where the Sun and Moon are spatially exactly the same size… and in 20 million years, we will no longer have eclipses, because the Moon is moving slightly away, hence visually smaller…)
At the moment of totality (circa 4 minutes,) – we see the stars and the occluded planets around the Sun (Mercury, Mars and Venus this time)… Tis dazzling, and actually orgasmic.
Metaphorically – days before an eclipse – possession by spooky, primal fear .. After an eclipse, we see possibilities we couldn’t see before… In this instance for the necessary bold miracle of Peace…
When George W Bush proclaimed a deadline to Saddam Hussein (you must do this and that by then, or war.., The date he gave for the deadline was a solar eclipse.
Now, Amuricans may know nothing of astro*mythology – but in the Middle East – they do.
The deadline was an eclipse, only after are possibilities for peace visible. So that date was a proclamation of war. And understood as such in Iraq.
