I am slowly working on deconstructing my local ballot! Before I vote, I want to set better suggestions for boundaries, containers, and freedoms.

  • I changed all the party labels to colors, and added “May the participants of these parties play and feast and dance and sing of Love and Mutual Respect for the Elements and All Beings. From this play of joy, may they make loose-fitting robes called policies.”
  • I wrote in candidates: Oak, Maple, Ash, Beech, and Pine, and added, “May these people (the official candidates) be blessed and may they be gone from politics as usual.”
  • I changed all the headings:
    • “State of Connecticut” becomes “State of Delight and Relaxation.”
    • “Official Ballot” becomes “Grassroots Prayers for Integrity and Beauty.”
    • “New Haven, Connecticut” becomes “Traditional Territory of the Paugussett and Quinnipiac Peoples” and “This Land Has No Owners” and “This Land Has Personhood and Voting Rights, as do All Beings Herein.”
    • “State Election” becomes “Plan for Fulfillment of Hopes, Dreams, Rituals, and Actions”
    • “November 3, 2020” becomes “From this moment forward”
    • “Congressional District” etc. becomes “Earth, Air, Fire, Water, Spirit, Below Realms, Upper Realms”
  • I added Snake as a symbol of chakra health and healing and also for transformation and skin-shedding (skin in the game!)
  • Lastly, I added blue and green lit candles with “May the Prayers of All Beings Enlighten All”

Thanks for this fun!
Woof! Woof! and Meow!

I read this email from Caroline & then walked out the door for a walk (the snow gave way to a crack of sunshine). As I stepped outside, a high-flying skein of geese.

I went back inside and grabbed my ballot and a shovel – 4:25 p.m., 10/30/20 ~ NYC time.  BTW, 425 is my house #.

I burnt my ballot on a small bridge between 2 marches with geese on my left and a blue heron on my right. The birds of spirit be with us.
Geese — the call to the Quest and travels to legendary places.  They are guiding spirits to the future.
Heron — Self-determination and Self -reliance.  Now is the time to rely on the Higher Self.
And on the way out of the marshes, a female kingfisher.  New light, prosperity and love/ Winter Solstice.
I burnt it at 3:02 pm EDT.

Update ~ (also commented below)

Just wanted to expand on my experience at the marsh. I was sort of in a dreamy haze last night from being outside in the cold to help with the polls earlier. My bones were still cold.

I found a marsh recently near town that I love to visit. That’s where I burnt my ballot – on a foot bridge on an old wooden railroad track between two parts of the marsh.

The Lady of the Marsh who talks to me has sort of a hip, spiky hairdo of marsh grasses and a wiry sense of humor to go along with the whole marsh as the place of decomposition and renewal thing. So she’s sassy. When she told me to ‘cool it’ I laughed.

But then thought, Caroline is always talking about how we have to cool off a hot energy. And of course, she talks about Saturn and jazz musicians talking about being ‘cool’. So the Lady was reminding me of Saturn’s ‘cool’ take on things – especially since Saturn just finished his last transit to my Cancer Moon. Sort of the ‘the Jets’ singing and dancing about being ‘real cool’ in the midst of turmoil and death.

So the ballot was cast, I was working on my cool and suddenly my friend points out that a kingfisher just flew in. We’d seen an blue heron and some geese and duck, but the kingfisher felt different. More a response to the whole ‘cool’ thing.

Kingfishers, I sort of knew, have a story of lost love attached to her. It’s the story of Halcyone and Ceyx. Which you can look up. This story gives us the Halcyone days of warmth and delight. And love and prosperity. Even better, I have a painting of a kingfisher on my wall. One of the colorful ones. So that’s my ballot story fleshed out a bit.

I offered my mythic ballot to a beautiful plum tree at 11:01am on October 31 in Graton, CA.

Ahh, Mythic ballot cast at sundown on the 6th.
Photos attached and in case you can’t read the narrative:

May this turn of THE WHEEL invite in the WINDS OF CHANGE to blow us out of HELL & HIGH WATER to be greeted by THE DEATH OF RATS who will lead us through THE SONG OF BREAKING ICE  past ANCIENT ENMITIES and THE MILLSTONE to a field where THE MOTHER OF ALL and THE LORD OF THE DANCE waltz around THE SEA OF STORIES as THE OUTSIDERS weave a COMPASSIONATE KINDOM brimming with UNEXPECTED JOY, EASE AND ABUNDANCE.

Amen, Ashe and Abracadabra!

I cast a magical ballot for Ma’at, a write-in for Minister of Justice. And here’s a photo of my New Moon altar—all the elephants are heading to the left 🙂

When you were young did you ever make those paper finger thingies that opened and closed, with flaps, where you could choose little parts to open, to read, etc? That’s my idea for a ballot… ‘finger ballot’ progressions that lead to the final ‘spiral flower’ reveal where we all ‘win’ 🙂

Cast my ballot 10-31-20… noting the time, it was 7:47AM PST when I began and done by 7:50AM 🙂

Attached is a photo of family boy “Ollie” in foreground and candle light marking the spot where the ballot rests, under Oak leaves in the Mist 🙂

Cheers into the New,
Rita

To Caroline et al,

A piece of birch bark found in a local wood, wrapped with a coil of braided sweet grass to represent a desire of all indigenous species for kinship and blessings. Copper wire and coil for conductivity. shaman friend’s Carnelian stone with sacred symbol in gold ink, this for our warrior spirit and immortal life. frankincense for the planetary gods that they be our allies in reciprocal good will. A red-tail hawk feather to speed this ballot/offering on its way. A Zuni coyote fetish because, well, we are the trickster and Caroline be our guide. finally, a crystal point at top to light the way to harmony and peace, and a dabbling of Palo Santo oil to sanctify this magic ballot. With love and heart 💖

Attached is a pre-view of the inspiration for my ballot:

I placed my ballot between 5:00 -5:04 AM in Naples, Florida

Three years ago when hurricane Irma hit SW Florida- it came directly over my house with 145 MPH winds. I had evacuated inland but when able to return found that my HUGE Royal Poinciana Tree had spit- two major parts of the trunk had gone tumbling to the ground (one into the alley and one barely missing my neighbors house)- only a skinny trunk was left standing. The large Kanon (Kuanyin) head that had been installed high up in the tree was now resting safely upright on the ground (having fallen 30′) right in the space of the spit.

Now, today the dead part of the trunks that are still there are home to loads of insects, ferns, mushrooms etc. There are at least a dozen new poinciana trees that have grown up from seedlings- now the lonely skinny trunk is surrounded by a new forest!
So I rested my ballot in the remains of the fallen trunk next to Kanon (I left her on the ground) with a bell to activate the blessing and floating candle I lit when the ceremony was complete.

Some photos are attached. It was dark so the photo of the ballot is not very clear but it was large tropical leaf- sprinkled with amber dust- further explanation will follow.

I put this image of the Lithuanian capitol of Vilnius on my election altar as part of calling in my ancestors. The pagan Duke Gediminus had a dream in a sacred grove in Lithuania by a river where this wolf came to him and sent a howl throughout the land. Dediminus took this wolf dream as an omen and founded Vilnius on that spot. The Duke spent his life defending the  sacred groves and nature spirits from the Christians.

My direct heritage is 100% Lithuanian along with that of Marija Gimbutas who I have studied.

Sprinkled the altar with healing amber dust and granules from the Baltic Sea.

Anyway- thought Caroline might find the wolf connection interesting.
Also, my name, Milda is the Lithuanian pagan  Venus.
So many synchronicities!

Down by the Willamette River at Montieth Park with my dog Bodhi in Albany, OR.  This is where we will dedicate our ballot.

The second picture is money play on my altar.  I have a habit of picking up coins I find while walking and the heart shaped box is full of them. Moved them from my dresser to the altar and added the dollar which has the third eye symbol on it to consecrate the coins and my coming good fortune.

Bodhi and I found a fallen tree in which we placed the ballot.  I was surprised when Bodhi came up the log to enter into the ceremony.  This happened about 4:30pm PT this afternoon in the river park in Albany.  lovely sunshine after morning rain.

and a few things that I’m doing/speaking/singing/utilizing

Grateful:

I’m grateful for the spirit that flows through me, gives me life, form and purpose.
I’m grateful for people, all people. No exceptions.
I’m grateful for the earth that nourishes, supports and sustains me.
I’m grateful for the future — all possibilities.
I’m grateful for the past — all lessons learned, all love received.
I’m grateful for the masculine, the warrior, that gets stuff done.
I’m grateful for the feminine, the lover, that creates, connects and flows.
Most of all, I’m grateful to me for being with it all so beautifully.

Song:

May the long time sun
Shine upon you
All love surround you
And the pure light within you
Guide your way on

Other Song:

OH AY ZAY OH NAY, AY AY KEY, OH KOO RAY

I placed ballot under my statue of Quan Yin in my backyard altar at 5:15 a.m CDT today (Austin, TX).  She stands next to Buddha.

I cast my ballot this morning at around 8:35AM EDT at Nine Mile Run in Frick Park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

(I’m never quite sure if I work the Sabian symbols correctly, but I make the Ascendant at 16 degree 35′ Scorpio which I am hoping is “A WOMAN FECUNDATED BY HER OWN SPIRIT IS GREAT WITH CHILD.”  This delights me and feels apt.)

Present were one beautiful creek, 3 deer, birds, trees, grass, rocks and fog along with many others.

After polling those interested, we composed a list of 18 desirable, vote worthy propositions. I attached these to 9 tiny seed bombs full of seeds for plants that are good for pollinators for this region, so I had the pleasure of actually casting my ballots.

Here’s the list we all came up with:
Surprise
Enough seats at the table
resilience
beauty
courage
clarity
generosity
reflection
survival
RESPECT
joy
sufficiency
maturity
My Ocean!
a CHANGE of Heart
respect blood (as in not spilling it needlessly)
PEACE

This presidency, today’s date and Election Day all work out to the number 9, so I worked with that, seeing 9 as endings and beginnings which sounds desirable to me.

I heard on the news it all may come down to Pennsylvania. At the park, we all took that pretty personally.  I can assure you that I secured some pretty resourceful and effective allies for our project, and they were 100% in–delighted to be asked, but not surprised. They must have their own All Things Considered.

I am so happy to have been engaged in this work. Thank you for your part in this.

Sincerely,
Ann

Here we go: a ballot was placed under my daughter’s apple tree under the moon at 10:50 tonight, October 30 MMXX. West Oakland, California.

The paper is made of milkweed pods ( we do that in the studio).  The ink is black walnut. The ballot is a “map” with north, true north, and the four seasons pattern of the Big Dipper.

The arcs are the 13 grandmothers, a turkey feather that becomes a pen writing “We the people”. Council fire “smoke” is rising on the right and the river is running across the lower left.  The single tree is the Tree of Peace (according to Oren Lyons the U.S. used the Tree of Peace on our original flag). There are two swans following the river and Bernie is still “Berning” in the lawn sign on the corner. The star surround could be the 50 states or even the 50+ states when Puerto Rico and D.C. are added.

My ballot traveled while I added to it…

An image of Kuan Yin, an image I found representing the (coming) conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn…and my ‘ballot’ for what I “vote” to manifest….both personal and collective….

I have several alters in my home…this is the main one (1st 2 images)…honoring those who have passed, sacred spaces & objects….and some of my ‘representations’ of some of our ‘magic ritual tools’, etc.

Another alter…honoring last years Bali Council and several artistic gifts & creations….

Ballot has been cast…. I wrote the ballot out on the back of the image of Jupiter/Saturn…. I burned the written copy to release to the Universe/Spirit/Full Moon (the image of Kuan Yin is not biodegradable… so it remains inside….)

A muse – to honor the directions….above, below, East, West, North, South….

Ceremony complete – ballot cast….holding sacred space and wishing an abundance of blessings for all….
Many blessings…A’she!

Om noble allies om,

Update: mythic ballot in, planted with garlic underneath to poke thru, either way, garlic is antiviral, a bulb, so good for us when eaten raw. Ballot design simple, paper and pen with only a little for the microbes to eat, didn’t want to pollute the garden with excessive art supply offering coated with the stench of perfectionism. Good enough, a poem paper i wrote, fine, homework in. So says Virgo the gardener.

Here is my Altar – my painting of an eagle-like bird perched on the world, humming protection and calm into group mind. An owl, painted by my partner, that I see as a huge owl, walking the Earth, egregore protector.

Also included is a bull horn for Earth and fertility (ie Biodynamics), Amethyst for protection and calm, the beautiful shell to remind us of water and ocean, a collection of stones and a collection of postcard doorway (portal) images.

Under an elder tree because I respect my elders. My magickal musical ballot. Earthed 5 minutes before moonset/sunrise. Not all the activating magic is on paper.

10 thoughts on “Mythic Ballots & Election Altars & Map”

  1. I just received this email containing this very interesting information from the Aboriginal people of Australia. I don’t know if it’s something to add to the cauldron, but since it’s happening on Winter Solstice along with the Saturn/Jupiter conjunction, I thought I’d send it along to share. It might be something we want to include in our council.

  2. Not specific to this election, but to the Great Beyond the Election. I have more & more certainty that we’re not “going back to normal,” but that we need to envision a “New Normal.” And so, not merely new leadership, but who do we want to be? how do we want our days and lives and relations to be? and how can we start embodying this “New Normal” now?

  3. More nominees for Backstage Supreme Court Justices and their Council
*Some may already have been named; if so, I second the motions 🙂

    Spirit of Africa
    Lungs of the Rainforest
Sentient Salt Water Creatures (Dolphin, Sturgeon, Whale, Octopus)
    Yoda
    Mother Mary/Black Mary

Ancestors: John Lewis, Nelson Mandela, Bob Marley, Mister Rogers, Maya Angelou, Nina Simone

Animating Living Energies: Dolly Parton, Oprah, Stacey Abrams, Pope Francis

  4. Working on ballot. Got some ideas; will be interesting to see if I picked up vibes from the part of tonight I had to miss <3 "Stay Tuned" "In what key should I stay tuned?" 🙂

  5. Placed my ballot in a venerable maple with a glorious orange moon watching through the woods, 6:46 CST.

  6. Please, when convenient, may we see in print the E-Ching reading that Caroline shared during recent Council? 🙂
