Symbolism and the more I learn about the Statute of Liberty… She is a muslim woman (an egyptian model), And blended with a great deal of Native American powerful women imagery, She is strong and magic – we are animists at heart (call on everything) – and when we don’t know what to do, are struggling or overwhelmed, it’s a microcosm of a larger truth (a good one, really) that we humans could not possibly resolve the innumerable crises we’ve imposed on our kin by our selves – it’s by our selves that got us in to this pickle! We wonder, we invoke, we call in, summon and invite the stirring energy of Redemption!
Mars and Venus in the sky – on their way to rendezvous by the end of this month, with Uranus. And the ongoing journey – we’ve seen Venus and Mars in the sky, in the West after sunset – so glorious! And they were together in Pisces during the inauguration and then the real inauguration (of the women’s gathering globally – the secret wedding) {Pisces: the sign of Venus’ strength and exaltation – and conjoin Neptune and Chiron} Dedicated to the whole (we’re all in this dream together).
Then Mars entered Aries and Venus followed along behind, so they are now dancing in Mars’ sign. It is a continuing story – Mars now becomes the protector of beauty – and advocate. What do we want in our partners and in this council? We want accomplices!
As we track Mercury to Uranus… (May it be so for each person on this call) that there is a irresistible eloquence that allows each person to hold a true perception and to become like a tuning fork that hums in others – setting the tone
And then Uranus is opposite Jupiter (in this long dance between them all) – this wild story realm…20, 30, 40 stories going on at once – they can all be true and conflicting… which one are we going to vote for (Saturn) dedicate
When we cahooted with Daniel Giamario (before, during and after the election) – We wondered how the inaugural chart could look so beautiful? Astrology (and all the divinatory languages) is not so much What’s going to happen to us? As What are we going to make happen? And what is being generously proffered for animation that we do indeed want to step in and animate? Lest we leave it by default to the dementors!
It’s Wild Story Storm time – but here’s part of this Elegance: Mercury to Uranus – May it be that we have Original Genius and when we don’t know what to do, we are willing to be danced into place at the right scheduling – so we have our Appointment with Kindness in Others. And the kindness in one, meets the kindness in others there. It’s increasingly available (as in fiction and fairytales and myth) it’s the intrinsic quality of the character that attracts the story of what apparently happens to them – but it’s really and art form of to and fro. These are complex layered things – no one thing is true. Terrible things do happen to perfectly wonderful good people. But for our purposes here we’re playing with that – as strategists. When things get difficult, where do we lean? The wealth of liberating stories and practices that we have – we want to play with them, and employ them (that’s what kerfuffles are for). If we all did what we knew we’d be in great shape – Blessings! Below, above, there and in front of us, back of us, left of us, right of us..

Tracking everything back, shape-shifting dynamic, word magic… I love Protestor into Protector… Resist into Persist – abide, continue steadfastly (see more) We strengthen whatever we oppose says Ursula Le Guin…We are guided to these things, dusting off many things from our past that we once sources of vitality. A long time ago, I had a pretty disciplined martial arts practice, in Korean Zen Swordsmanship… I’ve been thinking and looking at Aikido and the art of spiraling. So now I am signing up for little baby Aikido lessons.
We have the great example, small things into large: Trumpelstiltkin’s aggressive and ridiculous handshake tyranny… How he shakes people’s hands and pulls them and yanks them in { CNN video and coverage } And then seeing the Prime Minister of Canada – Justin Trudeau – who as our teammate, Richard Paul Geer pointed out, has a martial arts background – he was not pulled in – he stepped in to the handshake. The physical practice of Aikido is very witty and very kind. You transform somebody’s aggression into self-defeat – but nobody needs be harmed. Twist in and elegantly take someone down, and go Oh don’t be aggressive, you’ll hurt yourself. And it’s very beautiful.

As in many fairytales and so on, shape-shifting experiments – since Neptune is free range and available and our minds are curious and perky, we get to wonder – What animal would best deal with this circumstance? Uranus as our Trickster Ally: Nature’s Evolutionary Experimental Intelligence has no category about success/fail – other parts do – but Uranus is really, Try that – Nope – Try that – try something else – ooo yes that was good, keep that for reference!
The Sun in Aquarius: The medium-fogey astrology language would say “Aquarius is ruled by Saturn and Uranus”. I like – with all the alleged-rulerships going – to say that it’s really an incarnation of Saturn and Uranus – of discipline and wildness. It’s a pretty interesting time for Aquarians (I’ve had a bunch of Aquarians pouring in for readings now – it is such an interesting assignment, being Aquarius). The two “rulers” – principals – Saturn and Uranus are in Harmony right now. Also for what it represents in all of us: How we gather. It’s the Wolfote – the wolves and coyotes mating – the disciplined wildness – having the support of the pack.
Mercury quintile Uranus, Uranus sextiles (has a 60° angle) back to the Sun, the Sun has a 60° angle to Saturn, and Saturn has a 60° angle back to Jupiter; It’s a beautiful half a hexagon there of Creative Opportunity. Catalyzed by kerfuffles to inspire our experimental curiosity, on a lot of levels, which includes magnetizing and inviting in what can address a situation when we don’t know what to do. Opening books at random is useful. The Art of Peace is particularly good. These challenging things – when something gets our goat – when we are assigned a position to be behind a counter (retail) where you are available…(remembering Julian of Norwich was an Anchoress – used to be a position of women – kind of like Lucy in Peanuts (psychiatric advice 5¢) – the anchoresses would set up their booths in the town hall… and people would say My situation is such and such and they would give wise counsel. And that’s really (sort of) what retail is all about!
In the Ho’O’pono’pono way – If there is disharmony, we ask Am I in harmony? Or am I feeling jangly… let’s address this. When we are in a reactive state we don’t want to contribute that to any circumstance. Ideally (we’re syncretizing ourselves) we want to be calm (like a Wolfote) all the positive aspects of the wolf (play every 30 minutes, but maintains a responsible job, the lead wolf is calm and cool and engages the playful ingenuity of the pack) and coyotes (coyotes really don’t get depressed, their default setting is a kind of witty, liberating, unexpected, confident play dynamic; and they are kind of relentless too).
Honoring the Art of Peace and the Statue of Liberty: In our mind, in a kind of entheogenic sort of a way – alert reverie – imagine shape shifting What is the statue of liberty had a coyote head on it? Or a wolf head? Or a wolfote? Or shapeshifts in this wonderful, myriad way… In our own ongoing, continuing, syncretizing play – How shall we weave, invite and syncretize our own unique, wise, protective Trickster customized selves (from all the things that we admire)? We do this when things aren’t hot – like as we gather now – so that when things are more challenging, they are in place. In times of crisis, our past play really does play off – amazing things can happen, in small and large grace notes. What is this half a hexagon of opportunity and possibility woofing to each one of us? Language play – Part of our experimental cahooting with the spirits – we want to cultivate a pleasing invitation. Willing to cahoot, willing to play, magnetizing…
The Statue of Liberty – Who journeys from so far, and it took so long and so many people got involved… Frédéric-Auguste Bartholdi (sculptor) first had the idea in his twenties when he spent a great deal of time in Egypt. He loved the large monuments and statues, and after many long journeys and designs he settled on the final design 1875 – talks with the Freemasons – gets spiritual ideas… There’s a lot put in there as a beacon of light.
I don’t have exactly a birth time – but after looking in the research: After decades of work on this, this gift, Thursday, October 28th 1886 – a very interesting time (Pluto-Neptune conjunction, a lot of interesting people born in 1886) it is opposite Mercury and the Moon in Scorpio. The time I used – 12:45pm – is when people gathered around Liberty Island and there was a water parade… But no women were invited – There are all these things that want redressing – the Statue of Liberty goes What the hell was that?! {There was a number of women in boats going along harassing the parade of men}
12:45pm is when the Parade begins, when she starts down the birth canal in a way, and it works pretty well. A Mercury-Moon in Scorpio conjunction overhead, trining Saturn in Cancer (which is providing nourishment, a haven – Saturn is the dedication to a safe haven), trining her Mercury (which is the same degree as Terrence McKenna’s Sun – A person delivering a sermon on a mount), right next to the Moon in Scorpio (Moon in Scorpio is the provider, this important part of all of us now, which says All Life Deserves Safety – a flowerpot, a womb…) Very much a part of her dedication (All life deserves safety). There is a gathering, a syncretism, a strength from so many diverse things. I like thinking of her alive with many different heads on – really wonderful. The Sun is at 5 Scorpio (my Mercury), we ask what would you like to say?
12:45pm (made up birth time) is 22+ Capricorn A gypsy reading tea leaves, trining Neptune in Taurus (Neptune – symbols – in Taurus – manifest. A powerful manifest symbol – always delivering sermon on mount, always a beacon of light, saying all life deserves safety. And certainly expanding that out – beyond just the human realm into the tardigrades, the wolfs, the birds, the fish…We’re in this powerful crazy time where everything has to experiment and ally itself. Not just humans – it’s alliances. And there’s this quite beautiful thing in the Statue of Liberty chart: Venus in Libra conjoining Jupiter, which is social welcoming on a global level. May this be stronger than any dementors or up-to-no-good-ness.
The I-Ching in a kind of fierce way… As it can be – remember several ways back when I threw Stephen Karcher’s Total I-Ching and said What are we dealing with – these dementors? It gave this image (An old image from ancient China, which has it has it’s wicked dark side) “Five poisonous creatures in a jar that are left there until one of them kills and eats all the others” – Well, we wouldn’t wish that on anybody but it might be political coverage – not eat and destroy – Anything up to no good, may the other people in the jar prevent that from happening. Which does indeed seem to be happening over in the Flynn-Trumpelstiltkin dynamic.

We also want to honor the Power of the Dedication – Venus in Libra (in The Statue of Liberty Chart) – right next to Jupiter (generosity, syncretism gathered from all over), making a quirky 150° angle to Neptune in Taurus (Neptune: a powerful symbol, a powerful feminine symbol, in Taurus: manifest, incarnation, but also going It’s Alive) and the 150° angle to Venus is: May this vision, incarnated into a monument (statue), have global radiating effect in the social realm. I love that Uranus in the Statue of Liberty’s chart is A canoe having passed through dangerous rapids, finally reaches calm water. Neptune is transiting (or making a quirky angle to) that degree. Uranus is also making a quirky angle to Mercury going It’s Alive. We call on that life (and envisioning those things).
Our chart of now, guiding us: So many Stories, so much Wealth, so much Abundance, so much Creativity being proffered, and yes – so much in Danger (and the need to make alliances). Who brought what to this Renaissance?Plucky defiant joy is available – we’re being showered with this prospect. Astrologers would look at the Chart of Now and go, Very difficult, challenging, Pluto square Uranus…Friction, friction… But we would also go, But look how Beautiful
As we speak, the Moon is Rising in the East (where I am) Rising in the East at the Robin Hood Degree – Take from the rich, Give to the poor, Re-distribute things! The Moon is on her rendezvous with so many beautiful things, Moon will be opposite Venus – On Valentine’s Day (Feb 14th) at 5:51 am – so it’s waxing now. And then the Moon will trine Mercury at 1:09 pm (These are east coast times). And then the Moon is opposite Mars at 2:42 pm
Moon in Libra (on Valentine’s Day) It’s our own Council Ally, Patricia Ewing, who years ago said “Well you know why Valentine’s Day is Valentine’s Day – because of Almost-Pope Valentinus.” Almost (that we want to redress these days) Pope Valentinus was against any hierarchy in the Church, he was absolutely for equal me and women, women could serve as Priests, but the position was rotational – So one week you were a layperson, the next week you were a priest, and so on… Almost made it to Pope! Orthodoxy (we remember – ortho means straight) means Straight Teaching. We like our teachings curvy! And we remember that rivers, when they are curvy, can metabolize poison, but when they are forced into orthodoxy – forced into a straight path – they carry poison and they cannot heal themselves.
Valentine’s Day is meant to be about Equal. Equal Mars and Venus (within everybody), Equal Men and Women, Equal Women and Women, Equal Men and Men, Equal Humans and the Rest of Creation. It’s quite lively – whatever one wants to do – water the flowers, feed the birds, do some active beauty – is a perfectly lovely and wonderful thing to do.
We do remember autonomy – as told by the beautiful tale of Dame Ragnelle – All the Myths are available to us for invitation and brewing: 5 drops of Dame Ragnelle… It’s at the very, very heart, the center of the Arthurian Legend, the Grail Legend, so important to Western civilization (but not just to Western civilization, because it’s also intertwined with the Middle East and West)
And we remember that Parsifal can only attain the Grail, restore the waters of life, when he finds his secret, Islamic, Black twin Brother – It’s about the best of esoteric West and esoteric Middle East coming together to restore the Waters of Life.
So at the very heart of that, is the Tale of Dame Ragnelle
Arthur is hunting in the woods one day – he wounds a deer and unstraps his sword to venture into a thicket to find it, whereupon he is set upon by an old enemy who is there. And (the details are weird) it’s an old enemy due to real estate deal gone bad.
His enemy says ‘Oh – Now I am going to kill you!’
Arthur says, ‘Well, but I am unarmed, that would be most unchivalrous’
And his enemy says, ‘Fair enough, I will give you a question, and I will give you a year in which to answer it, and then I will show up in court. And if you have the right answer, then you shall live; And if you do not have the right answer, I will cut off your head in court.’
Arthur responds, ‘Oh that’s more than fair, more than fair. Thank you very much… What’s the question?’
His enemy says, ‘The question is – What do women want?’
‘Oooooooo…..’
All year he is talking to philosophers, and talking to wise women in the fields, and people everywhere… And he is gathering a whole burlap sack full of answers but he knows it’s not quite it, and time is getting short…
When – into town, into court rides Dame Ragnelle (she is described as smelling like the sea at low tide, way funky… and she has enormous tusks…).
And she ride up to Arthur, and she says, ‘I have the answer that will save your life.’
And he goes, ‘Oh, thank you, thank you very much – that’s great!’
And she says, ‘Not so fast – in return, for that answer which will save your life, I will marry your nephew, Sir Gawain, the handsomest man in court!’
And Gawain says, ‘Oh Uncle! I will do it for you. (And maybe we can find the answer somewhere else before that)’
So, the enemy arrives, and Arthur has these burlap sacks full of answers, and he pours them out, and his enemy is sharpening his sword… SSsshmph SSSssshmph Ssmph ‘Nope, Nope, Nope – these are not right…’
Finally all that Arthur has is the answer which Dame Ragnelle has whispered in his ear… And he whispers the answer into his enemy’s ear. And his enemy goes ‘Oh! Phooey!’ and leaves our story.
So, Guinevere thought a small wedding might be nice, but Dame Ragnelle will have none of it and insists on a really big wedding. And as Gawain has bedded all the women in court, and they are all moaning ‘Oh, Gawain, it’s so terrible!’. Meanwhile, Dame Ragnelle is eating entire boars, grease is pouring down her chin, and on to her frock.
Later, they retire to the bedchamber, and they are in bed.
Dame Ragnelle says to Gawain, ‘How ’bout a little kiss, sweetie?’
And he gathers all of his chivalry, and all of his goodness, and he says, ‘Nay, I will do more than kiss, madam…’ And as he turns to her, he sees – she is the most beautiful woman he has ever seen in his life. He goes, ‘Wow, what is this?‘
She says, ‘Your goodness has half restored me from a terrible spell, and here’s the deal – I can beautiful as I am intrinsically half of the time. Either with you in court, or with you in bed at night – one or the other – you choose!’
And he goes, Hmm let me think about this, there are appearances and there are things… And he finally says, ‘It is too great a decision madam – You choose.’
And she says, ‘You have completely released me, and I will be beautiful all the time as I intrinsically am – because what women want most in all the world is sovereignty. Sovereignty given, sovereignty given back, and sovereignty given again.’
And they make love time out of mind.
People have devoted their whole lives to it, Ananda Coomaraswamy writes about it, and loves it, and says The King must wed the Land (in her funkiest – because the Land is funky!). And Sappho says, If you are squeamish, Do not stir the rubble on the beach, And do not have anything to do with women. Jungian’s say, You’ve got to kiss the hag. There’s always someone is your life going You’re not going to wear that tie, are you? And you have to kiss her anyway
It operates on many, many, many levels. Weaving (Dame Ragnelle) into the Statue of Liberty. What do women – and what does the Earth, herself – want most? Sovereignty. It fits so well, because Uranus is bestowing and giving sovereignty. Our Reciprocal Blessings – May you have sovereignty! Autonomy is a sacrament. And each time we bestow it upon another, it comes back to us.
Part of our Storytelling craft – The Fourth Act of Tragedy yearns for the Fifth Act of Redemption
The Haymarket riots – the tragedy of that – it’s famous in anarchist history and the whole history of anarchism, which is a quite complex and beautiful philosophy and history. Not in the modern, trust fund people with black ski masks on breaking starbucks windows – no, no no. It was really dedicated to, if we all come into accord there is a group mind that is larger than all of us, that will come into accord (and many other things).
The Fourth Act – we remember – Jupiter is about stagecraft, and storytelling and theatre (and this resurgence of creativity and theatre – which is happening!) At the Grammys, A Tribe Called Quest and Busta Rhymes “I want to thank President Agent Orange for your unsuccessful attempt at the Muslim ban,” he continued while women sporting hijabs lined the stage. “But we come together. We the people!” (independent.co.uk) A Banishing – a kicking of cardboard boxes and a banishing of the ban
So our stagecraft – We all want to polish our dedication to being storytellers. Jupiter is theatre and storytelling. And Jupiter in Libra is even more so, because the 5 Act Structure – 5 is sacred to Venus (and Libra is Venus’ sign).The Five Act Structure is important because it’s comedy – not haha but redemption. And how we can think of it is: Act I – Here we are. Act II – Away. (whoosh) Act III – Oops uh-oh, uh-oh (small or large – lost the car keys or the world) Act IV – Evil (woooahhh – where the blocking characters seem to be winning) Act V – Redemption (the wedding, the sending at the end of the Mass, Go Forth and be good to eachother)
It’s intrinsic to nature – this five petaled shape – this five structure, like all five leafed plants, sacred to Venus (as above, so below). And so also is the flower of storytelling and the flower of theatre. So – Here we are – Away – Uh-oh, oops! – Act IV, Evil (Ooooohh oooo) – But, you’ve got to go through the underworld, you’ve got to face the evil. And that gives birth – the fourth act yearns and magnetizes – the fifth act.
The Haymarket Riot (1886) and then 6 months later, the installation, the dedication, of the powerful mojo of the Statue of Liberty… Which is the antidote to tyranny, and the embracing of life and diversity. Which is coming alive – Sane Reverence is Rising! There’s the dementors neck and neck (but maybe they are just in a glass jar and one of them will eat the other four! We don’t know – Or some other even better metaphor) but the fourth act yearns for it…
Pattern tracking beings, patterns reassure us – I saw a short documentary about a wonderful women who makes puzzles, and she would wire people’s brains up too) And she goes, Pattern tracking – when humans put a piece of puzzle in place, it stimulates the brain in a way comparable to sex and eating. (Deeply satisfying, Not alone – We are part of a larger thing – What a release!)
We do want to preemptively bless things – because we know that Mars and Venus (beautiful, beautiful, beautiful – journeying carrying the dreams of the collective – being advocates and persisters and protectors) they are on their rendezvous course over the next couple of weeks to square Pluto. (And by the end of the month to conjoin Uranus.) (And then the Sun enters Pisces.)
Mars & Venus square Pluto: That can be many things – and again On what level of metaphor – which is why prediction and certainty are booby prizes, really. I go back to these old sourdough starters… Edgar Cayce – a really great Pisces, a true psychic in all of his befoibled genius – he predicted that there would be a terrible flood on the east coast of America in the early ’70s (which would be after he died) and we go – Watergate! It was Watergate, it’s again what level, things can operate symbolically or literally.
Pavlov – That great story, when there was a flood in Pavlov’s laboratory, none of the surviving dogs retained the least bit of their conditioning. And we tease that into – Can the great upheaval going on now in the world have less of an effect on humans than a flood on dogs? Right – everybody is being de-conditioned. And all those things we are tired of in our own routine, decondition. And Uranus bestows upon us – with our storycrafting – a bag of lightning. To go I am so tired of this part of myself, let me hurl some lightning at that closed circle and liberate it into a spiral.
For me the Pavlov story became an even more fun one because I did stick it in my book, and I had a really difficult, difficult editor (I guess in the Ho’O’pono’pono way we’d say part of myself), she read that and she said ‘Caroline your readers will not know who Pavlov is, take this whole thing out.’ So I took umbrage (arrrhhh!) but fortunately, this is why it is good to have friends, I had a wonderful Aquarius friend I had hired as my ghost editor and she, having no harumphitude, just play about this (she wasn’t engaged in resisting the editor – resisting, a good place to start, but if we’re resisting against we’re in a very small finite game. Remember James Carse “the finite game is about winning, infinite game is about keeping everything in play”). My wonderful Aquarius (and here’s the spirit of Aquarius we can draw upon) she said, No need to worry about that, she sat down and goes, Watch this – and she just typed in, The name Pavlov should ring a bell. And we stuck the whole thing back in. Causing the Editor to go Ooh Curses, foiled again!
We spell each other with breaking spells – when someone comes in with a fresh, jaunty perspective and goes Watch This! That’s not a problem! Wordplay – Lightning – Liberating wordplay – May it be available to all us! Resistance into persistance – whatever we speak to one another is the part of them we are inviting to dance with the corresponding part of ourselves. I know this is true. We all are dealing with challenging circumstances, challenging people where we get harumphy – we must speak to the good part of them. We must preemptively thank people for doing the right thing, which creates an energetic field – Thank you so much for doing this sane thing.
Let’s toss into the cauldron all those old war metaphors: “Holding their feet to the fire” – that’s torture! Let’s sit around the fire and have some s’mores. We’d rather get two birds stoned with one scone…play with these things! Liberating wit! Liberating whimsy! Liberating gratitude! And Liberating is such a wonderful gerund (the -ing) to put in front of anything.
Especially right now – to set our dedications – that our manner of relating be a liberating blessing. And this is so much in the sky story right now – Jupiter (story, stagecraft) in Libra (art, beauty, dedicated acts of beauty) opposite Uranus (liberating, liberating!) connected to Saturn (our deep dedication) – it’s a great time Now (why wait?) to set our dedication in place.
Before we de-convene, (Uranus says) Are we willing? Are we willing in our hearts – now – that our fundamental manner of relating be a liberating blessing – ‘May it go well for you.’ ‘And for you.’ – And if we are, then Ashe (ah-shay) (which means – ‘May those words incarnate into manifest molecular reality’)
