Irresistible Eloquence Opens Portals Between Worlds
Caroline welcomes the 13th guest-hood of Martín Prechtel
whose latest proffering be, “Rescuing the Light,” that we may- “snap out of it!” he encourages,
and embrace Our Dangerous Beautiful Assignment (composting “trauma”).

Dark of Moon,
before Friday evening’s New Moon in Cancer,
when people gather to determine the course of culture.
Martin’s self-description, notable for its colorful concise, complexity:
“A an avid student of indigenous eloquence, innovative language and thought, Martin Prechtel is a writer, artist, and teacher, who through his work, both written and spoken, hopes to promote the subtlety, irony, and pre-modern vitality, hidden in an a modern language. A half-blooded Native American with a Pueblo Indian up-bringing, an Irish Grandmother, he left New Mexico to live in a village of Santiago Atitlan, Guatemala, eventually becoming a full member of the Mayan community there. For many years he served as a principle in that body of village leaders responsible for piloting the young people through rituals of passage into adulthood.
Once again residing in his beloved New Mexico, teaching at his school, Bolad’s Kitchen, through an immersion into the world’s lost seeds and sacred farming, forgotten music, magical architecture, ancient textile making, metal smithing, making and using of all sports of tools, musical instruments , and food, and deeper meanings of origin of all these things, and the older stories and ancient texts;
and by teaching through the traditional use of riddles, Prechtel hopes to inspire people of every mind and way to re-grow and re-vitalize real culture, and to find their own sense of place in the sacredness of a newly found daily existence in love with the natural world.”
And there he be born on the waxing Full Moon in a moving car,
with a magic back-pack comprised of myriad ancestral mentors’ guiding stories
(human, plant, animal and more!) that he would hone, by worked adversity and grief,
into a prolific bloom for guiding our rogue species back to manners,
hence participatory animism.
Never more welcome or relevant!

a stranger walks into town, wearing a silk top hat,
carrying a large black bag- the Doctor- magician, collaborator with Nature.”

Majnoun – crazy yearning
“to keep alive a more inside-the Earth way of learning…”
At this time of Beauty and cruelty – neck and neck – we’re betting on Beauty,
whose trickster fluidity spirals out of polarity, liberating the entire circumstance,
by beckoning us to partner with what we love, that sane reverent common sense
may assume cultural narrative lead.

Christi Belcourt, Water Song
When in doubt – “Always make Beauty!”
“Be beautiful on the way to the answer. That is the answer.”
“Bow to what gives you life.”
“Spiritual Divination is not fortune telling,
it’s not about what’s gonna happen-
it’s about trying to see beyond our numbness
into what’s happening right now in front of our faces.”
p. 15
“You have within you the wherewithal to take one of your poisonous thoughts
or curses, break it down…learn the the origins of the words with which you
concocted your evil, learn their real etymology, then reassemble them differently,
into something worthy that now blessed the very thing or person you were cursing…
Whatever is used to curse can be taught to bless.”

admire- “regard with wonder, marvel at,”
from Old French admirer “look upon, contemplate”
“In art..music..life, there must be coordinated friction to make beauty sing.
Stress is the mother of flamboyance and style.”
“Loneliness is the greatest driving force of cowardice.
It takes courage to do something worthy all alone, with no applause.”
“We all need to have at least a little rational thinking
but we must remember it’s only the secretary of the ecstatic soul!”
“Anything that is learned fast is forgotten fast.”
hence dogma,
and delusion arise
from that which we believe but have not earned…
“Our health is the health of the whole thing.”
“They say magic is something people rely on when they don’t know the truth.
No! Science is what people rely on when they don’t have any magic.”
Depression:
“The modern world has so much comfort; this is depressions little nest.”
“Ransom yourself out of the slavery of negativity,
the price is your courage to be kind and your vow
to feed somebody besides yourself.”
“At this point the stakes are very high; let’s get to work.
You don’t have time to be depressed – that’s something you can put off till later.”
Like enlightenment…
“Courtesy is the courage not to be mean.”
