Finding the Right Story to Ride!
Finite and Infinite Games – to Finite and Infinite Story!
September 19, 2011

Yes, everyone, we are breathing through tantrum yoga…If we understand the finite game, we may then bring the magic of the infinite game into play. If we take our finite story and connect it to an infinite story, aka a true fairy tale, unhitching our star from a wagon, we have a great ride down the River -whoweee. Or as Ancestor Trickster Council Member Rev Ike resonates: “If your wagon gets stuck in the mud, unhitch the mules and move on, can always get another wagon!”
This is one realm of our expanding repertoire of personal and cultural strategies to be cultivated this week, and in perpetuity.
Recently I found myself in a goat-getting kerfuffle realm that took me to a challengingly pertinent place. When we get to a yargghhh, we wonder, are these themes occurring elsewhere in my life? And/or in the world? Ooh, yes, they seem to be up… in the micro, macro multiverses. If so, they are definitely worthy of working the play, drie-ing our weird, going down to the bottom to come on back to the top, as with a keeper current in a River.
Bursting through the constarint of petty conditioning.
Putting the hyphen in dia-gnosis. (“dia” means “though” or “apart”).
We query kerfuffles as to whether they are relevant kerfuffles, incentives to hum our plucky Trickster vibe, humming and rocking ourselves back into the comforting and exhilarating embrace of Big Momma Story.
Bre’r Grimes guided me to the story I needed. He started by saying in the civil war, one of the way soldiers used to prepare for battle was insulting each other beforehand, to burn through all reactiveness. I am not allied with battle metaphors per se, BUT it connected me instantaneously to the crucial tale that I often tell, of the Princess Perizada, who had to climb the mountain where voices hurled customized goat-getting insults, and her task was to not react, not turn around, in order to arrive at the summit and return to the world with the Talking Bird, the Singing Tree and the Waters of Life. Once I re-found the guiding story, my favorite story, right at hand, under my nose, ’twas as though puzzle pieces were gliding into place, and my fragmentation was made whole.
Let us be inspired by discord to move to accord. We invite Perizada (“fairy born”) and her story to our council tonight and forever!
And the “Unicorn in Silver Slippers”, and let’s consider other stories, ancestors, mythic, fictional or once human, to invite.
We invite Lyra Belacqua from “the Golden Compass” and her medicine of calm, alert, present, open, reflection, so the guiding story can be divined, and invited to warm our lives in the pre-Equinox Autumnal chill.
For now, all is knocked off false balance, faux harmony, to come back into true balanced, dynamic accord at Friday’s imminent Equinox….and spiralling forth from that focused still point.
God Un-Dam! Heartening news: Rivers all across America are being un-dammed…”So bust the dams and let her free…” Bringing back the living rivers, frees the creativity of creation to cavort with all beings… Sufficient homeopathic doses of miracles abound. And we are grateful for it all, connected to the Big Story, with our stars, goats, mules, Talking Bird, Singing Tree and Waters of Life, encouraging us to persevere through whatever customized ordeal we have been entrusted.
(p.s. the secret Trickster Council facebook page is pretty darn adorable (praise be to Tara! so if any of our team is on facebook, or is considering, feel free to make yourselves known, and we will invite you to join.)
