He is the founding director of Ocean Conservation Research (www.OCR.org ), a science and policy development NGO focused on the impacts of human generated noise on marine habitat. “This is one of those idiot proposals that has been stumbling around for the past 30 years – and pointed to by people who marginally believe in science, telling us not to worry about global warming because “the scientists will figure it out.”
Grabbing at straws.
There is this little thing called inertia, so when the scientists really figured it out 40 years ago, the economists didn’t like the numbers. The economists figured that all we would need to do when the time came was turn down the thermostat and the planet would go into a “market correction.” But with an entire planet on this thermal trajectory, it will not slow down for 10,000 years…
Other than that – all is well!”
And we move on to consider replacing human galumphy trompling on complexity…
and invoking, “Now, wait a minute…” “Did you know about how wind farms’ noise may muck up birds’ capacity to migrate…?
